This year, Friends Academy expanded its Entrepreneurial Studies program to the Middle and Lower Schools. In Middle School, all 8th graders have the opportunity to engage in this real-world, problem-solving course that asks students to research, collaborate, and present solutions to real-time problems.
The Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club challenged our Middle School entrepreneurship students to create a comprehensive strategy for improved peer-to-peer connections at the Club. In preparing the students to pitch leaders at the organization, team teachers Jen Halliday, Assistant Head of School, and Middle School Principal Christine Saunders coached them on how to build and deliver a professional presentation.
Working in groups, students used data and insights provided by Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club leaders to understand the challenge and develop solutions. Jen and Christine encouraged students to engage their potential clients through eye contact and confident voices and to plan to dress in professional attire.
